For the academic year 2022-23, fees are unlikely to rise for professional courses such as engineering, pharmacy, law, and B.Ed. Traditionally, professional course fees are revised every three years; the last revision took place in 2019.
For the academic year 2022-23, fees are unlikely to rise for professional courses such as engineering, pharmacy, law, and B.Ed. During the Telangana admissions and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) meeting on Monday, various fee aspects were discussed, including the continuation of the existing fee structure for the 2019-2020 academic year. Traditionally, professional course fees are revised every three years; the last revision took place in 2019 and will remain in effect until 2021-22. From 2022-23 to 2024-25, a three-year block revision was due.
Although parents were financially affected by Covid-19, the committee discussed maintaining the existing fee structure this year. It was also discussed to raise the existing fee by 10% for all courses or to fix the fee based on college details. An official said, “A decision is expected on Wednesday”. Prior to the application deadline, the TAFRC invited professional colleges to submit proposals for revisions of the fee for three-year block periods from 2022-23 to 2024-25.
CBIT received the highest fee of Rs.1.73 lakh per annum, while the minimum was Rs.45,000 per annum, according to a fee schedule for 175 engineering colleges. Many colleges, especially in rural areas, have asked for a fixed fee of Rs.35,000, claiming that students can't afford more.
Several professional colleges' audit reports contained discrepancies, according to TAFRC officials. A college principal and auditor's report do not match the audit reports submitted online.
An official said, "Some colleges came for review on the fixed fee. While going through the reports, there were several discrepancies in the reports. We randomly picked reports submitted by 15 colleges and all had discrepancies".
