Telangana: NET July 2016 Results Upset Several Aspirants
Most of the syllabus that was covered was not from PG course. The questions were tough, and it is not easy even for the faculty who deal with the subject on a regular basis to answer the questions that are given in NET 2016 question paper.
With an objective to ensure minimum standards in the teaching profession in universities and colleges, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has made National Eligibility Test (NET) or State Eligibility Test (SET) mandatory for the candidates irrespective of their PhD degree. However, the hopes of several candidates have been foiled after the UGC announced the results of NET 2016.
The examination was held in the month of July in 83 subjects across 88 cities to shortlist the candidates for lecturer or assistant professor posts and Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs) in the country.

Most of the candidates across the state did not qualify in the examination. They alleged that the syllabus was vast and not according to the guidelines from the universities. Anaboina Sampath Kumar, an aspirant from Telangana University who cleared NET 2016 exam indicated that most of the students are not qualifying in NET due to lack of proper guidance and command over the subject. There is a high demand for the qualified professors in various colleges and universities, but the pass percentage in NET was less.

On the other hand, some of the candidates pinned their hopes on SLET examination. Finally, the government announced that there would be no SLET for the year 2016 which further foiled the plans of the aspirants. SLET is an examination conducted by UGC on par with NET, but the eligibility is only limited to Telangana state.
