Telangana: Varsities to Fill Up 1,061 Teaching Posts Soon

Deputy Chief Minister & Education Minister of Telangana, Mr. Kadiyam Srihari announced that the state government would soon accord the permission to fill up 1,061 teaching posts in various universities across the state. The minister convened a meeting with Vice-Chancellors of all the varsities on May 6, 2017. On this occasion, he assured that Chief Minister of Telangana would soon give approval for initiating the recruitment process.

Most of the varsities across the Telangana have been facing a severe shortage of faculty. For instance, Osmania University has been facing a shortage of 700 faculty members. Now, taking up the recruitment process will benefit most of the varsities. Filling up vacant teaching posts is the top priority for these universities as they applied for National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) grading.

During the meeting, the minister also took the decision regarding the notification for online UG admissions for the academic session 2017. The notification for online UG admissions will release on May 15, 2017. The minister also clarified that there will be no hike in the tuition fees for this year.

The minister also directed all the varsities to make the services of varsity available online from the academic session 2017-18. He also issued directions to the VCs for installing biometric attendance system in the varsities. The attendance of all the teachers, students and non-teaching staff must be recorded in the biometric system, he added.

Mr. Kadiyam Srihari also mentioned that the varsities should check the facilities of the college properly before granting affiliation. The minister also indicated that all the varsities should have a common academic calendar for the upcoming session.
