THE Impact Rankings 2022: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Enters Top 50
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham ranked at 41th position as per the THE Impact Ranking 2022; whereas the rank was 81 in 2021. Apart from that the University also secured 8th position in the world in terms of Gender Equality.
NEW DELHI: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has entered the top 50 as per Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2022, the only global indicator for measuring the progress of the Universities towards the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). It secured 41st position in 2022; whereas the position was 81 in 2021.
Apart from the overall rank, Amrita Vidyapeetham is at 8th rank in terms of Good Health and Well Being in this world. Also ranked 8th position for Gender Equality, 15th for Clean Water and Sanitation and 32nd for Quality Education.
THE 2022 Impact Ranking (fourth edition) included 1406 Universities of 106 regions/ countries; whereas in 2021, THE Impact Ranking included 1117 Institutions in 94 territories. THE Impact Ranking includes 17 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals of four broad areas; such as stewardship, outreach, research and teaching.

The Vice-Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, P Venkat Rangan stated that the Institution mainly focuses on both education for life and compassion driven research simultaneously. This vision helped Amrita Vidyapeetham to secure a rank within 50. However, Rangan did not forget to acknowledge the effort of the students and faculty for this success.
Dr. Maneesha Ramesh, Heads of Live-in-labs added that Amrita Vidyapeetham has a record of working with more than 150 projects across 21 Indian states. The participants of this Institution evidently touch around 60000 rural residents in the last few years and clocked more than 200,000 hours towards sustainable development in rural communities. The primary objective of this agenda is to directly contribute to SDG3 (Good Health) and SDG5 (Gender Equality).
As per the fourth edition of THE Impact Ranking, Western Sydney University occupied the number one position; whereas Arizona State University (Tempe) in the USA and Western University, Canada are at 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
