THE World University Rankings 2024: 91 Indian Universities makes it to the list
A whopping 91 Indian universities made their names to the list of THE World University Rankings 2024. IISc Bangalore ranked first in the country as it did the previous year. Check the full list here.
THE World University Rankings 2024: The Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings 2024 have now been published and this year, a total of 91 Indian Universities have been listed at a rank band of 1501+. A lot of prominent institutions of the country secured their names in the Top 500 list and following its legacy of the previous year, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has once again been listed as the top Indian university in the rank band 201-250. In THE world rankings 2024, a total of 1904 universities from 108 countries were listed based on various criteria and degrees of higher education. University of Oxford, Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology remained the top 3 Universities in the world as per Times Higher Education rankings.
The number of Indian universities in THE World University Rankings 2024 has surpassed all previous records. The number of Indian higher education institutions back in 2016 was only 19 and by 2024, it has now risen to 91 universities. This development comes despite the refusal of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) to participate in THE World University Rankings this year as well. The IITs that top NIRF rankings every year have cited the vague ranking criteria followed by the Times Higher Education as the reason to withdraw participation.
