This 67-Year Old Retired Employee Wants Admission in Delhi University
- Mr. Nagesh Chaddha, a 67-year old retired employee aspires to get admission in master’s degree course at Delhi University.
- At present, Mr. Nagesh is pursuing a Diploma course in Persian Language.
While lakhs of students are aspiring to get admission in the University of Delhi, a 67-year old retired employee also joined the list of aspirants seeking admission in one of the top universities in India.
Mr. Nagesh Chaddha, a retired LIC employee has been trying to get admission in Delhi University. His attempt to get admission in M.A Urdu course last year was not successful. However, he did not give up and is again set to pursue his aim of getting admission in any course offered by Delhi University. He wants to fulfill his dream of attending the regular classes.
Mr. Chhadha was present at the Open Day session organized by Delhi University on May 21, 2018. He was there to seek guidance on the best course that will suit his interests in this stage of life. Many aspirants mistook him to be the grandfather of an aspirant. After learning that he wants to pursue a course at the age of 67, he became an inspiration to many students who were present at the venue.

Mr. Nagesh Chaddha never appeared for regular classes in a varsity. After the death of his father in 1974, he joined LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India). He pursued B.Com course at Delhi University in distance mode. He completed the course in 1977 with 56 percent marks. As per today’s standards, he secured a good score in B.Com course that too in distance mode.
In 2016, Mr. Chhadha pursued an Advanced Diploma Course in Urdu Language at Delhi University. It was his dream to study Urdu and hence fulfilled it. The reason behind taking up a course in Urdu language was that he wanted to read a few diaries of his father that were written in Urdu language. At present, he is pursuing a Diploma Course in Persian Language.

He is trying to get an admission in regular master’s course and is yet to submit an application for the same. DU officials confirmed that there is no age bar for any course offered by the varsity.
