Coronavirus Impact: Students to Take GRE and TOEFL at Home
Exams such as TOEFL and GRE will now be taken at home except in Mainland China and Iran due to the coronavirus outbreak globally. At-home solutions will now be offered to the test-takers worldwide who have been impacted by COVID-19.
The coronavirus pandemic has impacted educational systems worldwide which has led to shutting down of the schools and universities and postponement/cancellation of various exams at the school, state, and national levels. So, in this time of social distancing amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, global exams such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) will be taken at home except in Iran and mainland China due to the COVID-19 outbreak across the world as per the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

At-home solutions will be made available worldwide for the test-takers impacted by COVID-19. Both GRE and TOEFL will have to be taken at home until the situation improves and tests can be conducted at the centres, TOEFL Program Executive Director, Srikant Gopal said.
Precautions have been taken to make sure that the tests students will be taking from home meets the highest standards when it comes to reliability, security and validity. These exams employ best-in-class security measures that involve both real-time human monitoring and artificial intelligence technology.
GRE and TOEFL are conducted for admissions in some of the top universities globally. These two exams are the prerequisites for getting admission to universities in US, UK and Canada.

TOEFL is conducted almost 50 times a year at the authorised test centres and one can take GRE once every 21 days up to five times a year.
