TOEFL to Undergo Major Changes, Have a Look!
The TOEFL institute of English Language is revamping their test patterns, times and result furnishing methods. The test duration is becoming shorter and the result will have an emphasis on the best performing areas of a student.
TOEFL or the Test of English as a Foreign Language set itself on the path of mass revamp from the upcoming session which is set to start from August. The TOEFL will have a shorter duration and the facility of best score choosing if the examination is attempted more than once. With the changing demands of the institution, the body that conducts the TOEFL and GRE entrance examinations globally, the Educational Testing Services or ETS is now working to introduce changes on the test patterns after facing the demand of change from the institute.
TOEFL’s executive director Srikant Gopal said that when a standardised test is taken more than once, most of the institutes consider looking for the best scores of an applicant. The institute is aware that the test takers want to take an English Language test which will make them able to stand out in front of admission officers.
He added that a significantly better testing experience will be provided to students and it will prove to be beneficial for the institutes who can then widen the pool for their English language requirements.
The three sections on which the test is taken, writing, reading and listening will be shorted and with that, 30 minutes will be lessened from the total examination duration of TOEFL. The test duration will come down to three and a half hours from the previous four-hour duration.

A feature called ‘My Best Scores’ will likely to be introduced in the institute with the reforms. With the initiative will combine the best scores acquired by the student in the two years of his/her academic tenure. The My Best Score scheme will help students for showcasing their best performance and fields evaluating on which, an academic institution can decide to take admission of the student.
The Executive Director said that the TOEFL iBT results are sent after 1st August every year. The result from the current academic year will have the Best Scores furnished along with the traditional method of scoring.
More than 150 countries welcome TOEFL score for checking English language efficiency in more than 10,000 institutions in 98% of the total universities in the UK, and most major universities in USA, Australia, New Zeland, Canada rely on the scores of TOEFL.
