With new academic year being around the corner and since the admission process od many Universities has already started. So to make the conduction of the admission process smooth UGC has asked all the Universities to set up a helpline number to handle admission related queries of students and parents.
"With the new college term to start presently, it's understood that each one university has gotten busy with the method of admission in varied programmes of study offered at totally different levels of upper education. "The admission procedure constitutes one amongst the foremost vital aspects of institutional functions and may result in a great deal of problems and confusion for college students if not dole out with utmost care and clarity," UGC secretary Jaspal Sandhu aforementioned in a very letter to VC.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India is a statutory body set up by the Indian Union government in accordance to the UGC Act 1956 under Ministry of Human Resource Development, and is charged with coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of higher education. It provides recognition to universities in India, and disburses funds to such recognised universities and colleges. Prof. Ved Prakash is the incumbent Chairman of UGC, India. Its headquarters is in New Delhi, and six regional centres in Pune, Bhopal, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Bangalore.The UGC was first formed in 1945 to oversee the work of the three Central Universities of Aligarh, Banaras and Delhi. Its responsibility was extended in 1947 to cover all Indian universities.
