UGC Forms Expert Committee for Enhancing Online Education
UGC has formed an expert committee for enhancing online education and making good use of the existing lockdown in the nation due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has urged the academic community to make the best out of the lockdown period due to COVID-19. And in light of this, UGC has formed an expert committee for recommendations on e-resources pooling and enhancing the online education systems in the nation.
To ensure that teaching and learning at home is not disrupted and academic loss is minimised, Information Communication Technology has to be leveraged. In the past also, UGC had shared links of the digital platforms which were developed by the MHRD and the Commission with the objective of creating awareness among the academic fraternity, using the institutions’ websites, e-mail and social media apps such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter etc. These platforms are accessible to students, teachers, researchers in colleges and universities and lifelong learners.
HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has also started a campaign "Bharat Padhe Online’ and has invited suggestions from the teachers and students for boosting e-learning and promoting online education in India.
The last date for sending the suggestions through email is April 16, 2020. It is important to move ahead with the collective efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic, and also make good use of the time during the current situation by adopting ICT for teaching-learning process, and contributing towards the intellectual wealth of the nation.
