No Original Certificates Required During Admission, 100% Fee Refund within 15% Days of Admission Withdrawal: UGC

HRD Minister has said that the students will not be required to submit their original documents at the time of admission. Also, the students will get fee refund from the institute if they withdraw their admission.

A statement from the HRD Ministry confirmed that Higher Education Institutions can charge advance fees only for that semester/ year in which a student wants to be a part of academic activities. Collecting advance for the entire course is strictly prohibited and in case any student withdraws from the programme, the institute will be required to refund the fees.

Fees Refund Norms for Colleges and Universities

The norms for the refund of the fees as per the UGC statement are as follows:

100% Fee Refund - If a student withdraws within 15 days or more before the last date of admission, only 5% of the fees paid by the student i.e. Rs.5,000 will be deducted as processing charges.

90% Fee Refund - If a student withdraws within 15 days before the last date of admission.

80% Fee Refund - If a student withdraws within 15 days after the last date of admission.

50% Fee Refund - If a student withdraws between 16 days to 30 days after the last date of admission.

No Refund: In case a student decides to withdraw after 30 days of the formally notified last date of admission

Prakash Javadekar, HRD Minister said that no student will be required to submit any original proofs/ documents/ personal certificates at the time of submission of the admission form. According to him, the ministry will issue the official notification regarding the same soon.

He also said that students will also get a fee refund from the institution if they withdraw their admission from the programme in a given time frame.

This notification will be applicable to all Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral Programmes that come under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act.
