UGC Invites Applications for PG Merit Scholarship 2016

University rank holders at the undergraduate level who wish to pursue Master’s program can now apply for UGC’s Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship Scheme for university rank holders. Aspirants will have to submit online forms before September 15.

The scholarship scheme was launched to stimulate talented students and encourage them to pursue post-graduate studies and firming their basic foundation. The scholarship can be for a period of two years so that rank holders are given the opportunity to pursue Master's degree in their respective fields.

Candidates awarded with this scholarship can choose to pursue a postgraduate program in any area of specialization in either of the higher educational institutes in the country.

About the Scholarship:

Students who are given this scholarship will be provided with Rs. 2,000 per month for a period of two years (i.e. 10 months in a year). Grant for the second year will only be provided once the utilization certificate has been received along with the statement of expenditure and the progress report of the first year. The scholarship will be provided to students from the fields of Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Science, Earth Sciences, Commerce, Mathematical Sciences, and Languages, as identified by the UGC.

Eligibility criteria:

• Candidates willing to apply must either be first or second rank holders at the undergraduate level and must have secured a seat in either of the related postgraduate program. However, the norms say that a candidate must have secured minimum 60% marks at the undergraduate level.
• Only the students enrolled in regular, full-time Master's degree course with a recognized university, private university, deemed university, autonomous college or a post graduate college are eligible to apply.
• The form is available online and all aspirants are required to fill the form.

NOTE: Last date to submit the online application form is September 15.
