UGC Seeks Participation of More Institutes in Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan
The University Grants Commission seeks the participation from more colleges and universities in the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan which has been initiated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India.
UGC, commonly known as the University Grants Commission has initiated efforts to ensure maximum participation of colleges and universities in the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. The programme is being run by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India. The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan focuses on the upbringing and development of the rural areas of the nation. UGC released a circular to urge maximum number of institutes to participate in the effort.
According to the circular, for Unnat Bharat Abhiyan to be a successful initiative, more participation from colleges and universities are required. The institutions interested in lending helping hands must get themselves registered on the official website of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. The circular also states that the participating universities and colleges will work in close contact with the authorities of the concerned district. The institutions can also use their own internal sources for an impressive implementation of the programme.
The technological, managerial and social interventions of these institutions can serve to be the reason for the smooth running of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. Presently 44 universities and colleges including Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar,Utkal University, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, Rama Devi Women’s University and Sambalpur University have shown healthy participation in this programme.

Each institution has prominently adopted 5 villages with a responsibility to understand the rural and social scenario and work for the betterment of the education, health and social structure of these villagers. The institutions have also been told by the Commission to take effective measures and promote the same on the official website so that more awareness can be spread across the nation.
