UGC Asks Institutions to Celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on October 31
UGC has directed all the higher education institutes of the country to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st October. To celebrate the occasion many events such as pledge taking ceremony, quizzes, debate competition will be organised.
The University Grants Commission has directed all the higher education institutes of the country to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31st, 2019.
According to the official UGC circular, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel will provide an opportunity to reestablish the resilience, unity, strength and security of our country.
To celebrate the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, many universities and its affiliated colleges will have a Run for Unity in which students, faculty and non-teaching staff will participate. Other activities suggested by the UGC are debate competition, pledge taking ceremony, and quiz competition. Colleges and Universities can also upload videos of activities undertaken during the celebration on the University Activity Monitoring Portal.

Similar activities will be conducted in CBSE to celebrate the event. Also, colleges which have NCC unit will be inviting Army Officers to deliver a speech on National Unity, Integrity, and Security.

Along with the UGC circular, the Rashtriya Ekta Pledge has also been forwarded to the higher education institutes and colleges for the pledge taking ceremony.
Central Board of Secondary Education has also directed all the affiliated schools to organise appropriate activities to celebrate the National Unity Day to observe the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This will promote the unity and inculcate such values in students from a young age itself.
Both the UGC and CBSE asked the educational institutions to submit a report of the ceremony.
