UGC asks Universities to give Xerox Copy of Answer Sheets for Rs. 2 per page
The UGC has directed the higher education institutes to follow the Central Information Commission (CIC) order and give answer sheets copies to students for only Rs.2 per page.
The UGC has directed the higher education institutes to follow the Central Information Commission (CIC) order and provide answer sheets only for Rs.2 per page. Many state universities such as Anna University, Chennai and Bharathiar University, Coimbatore are collecting Rs.300 per paper to give Xerox answer sheet copy to students.
Dr. MGR University, Tamil Nadu charges Rs.1, 000 per paper for issuing Xerox of the answer sheet. If the theory paper has two sections-section A and B or paper I and paper II, the fees will be paid separately for each section. As per CIC’s order, all universities including deemed universities and examining bodies will have to give copies of answer sheets only for Rs. 2 per page and make changes in their notifications soon.

According to the CIC order, UGC and Association of Indian Universities need to insist on implementing this order in all academic, examining bodies. The order also directed MHRD to circulate this order to all examining bodies and make it compulsory for them to make the rules uniform and fix the cost at not more than Rs.2 per page.
University professors stated that undergraduate students usually write 30-40 pages and as per the CIC’s orders, the students would have to pay only Rs.60-Rs.80 per paper.

C.Pichandy, the Association of University Teacher former general secretary was in favour of this move and said that students should not be charged in an unfair manner. The idea is to prevent the number of revaluation cases as that reflects the evaluation system.
