UIDAI Recommends Enrollment of JEE Aspirants for Aadhaar on Priority Basis

Ajay Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), issued directives to all the registrars and enrollment agencies associated with UIDAI to enroll applicants of Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE’s) Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2017. He indicated that the enrollment agencies must treat it as a priority and enroll the names of the applicants as early as possible.

This year, the Central Board of Secondary Education has made Aadhaar card mandatory for filling the application form for JEE (Main) 2017. The candidates will not be able to fill the online application form without Aadhaar number. The application process for JEE (Main) 2017 will commence from December 1, 2016. UIDAI has come up with an initiative to set up facilitation centres so that the candidates who don not have Aadhaar card can register for the same.

On the other hand, the candidates from Assam, Meghalaya and Jammu & Kashmir are exempted from Aadhaar rule. The process of issuing Aadhaar card did not commence in these states, and none of the residents possess Aadhaar card.

With an objective to facilitate the JEE (Main) aspirants, UIDAI has directed all the regional offices to make necessary arrangements for Aadhaar enrollment. The facilitation centres will function till January 2, 2017.

The online application portal for JEE (Main) 2017 will close on January 2 and the candidates who do not have an Aadhaar card must enroll in any of the regional centres well before the deadline.
