UIET Panjab University Mechanical & Biotechnology Departments Witness Less Than 30 Percent Placements
In this era of engineering down-surging in India, the UIET of Panjab University sees less than 30% placements in the last three year’s total placement records from Biotechnology and Mechanical departments.
Less than 30% of students get placed from Mechanical and Biotechnology branches in campus placement of Panjab University (PU)’s U.I.E.T. (University Institute of Engineering and Technology) which is the largest department of Panjab University.
UIET started off at Panjab University in 2002 that conducts 6 undergraduate and 8 postgraduate programs. The placements dive the lowest from these two branches comparing with the Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology (IT) departments of PU’s UIET. Both of the Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science Engineering (CSE) has 110 seats each, where EEE has 120 and 90 is the intake capacity of each of the remaining three courses.
The University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) of Panjab University (PU) takes admission in its different streams evaluating the rank of JEE Mains.
The data of the last three years show that only 27 students got through campus placements from Biotech department where 144 students applied for campus placements in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
On the other hand, from the mechanical engineering branch of University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), only 64 students got placed in campus placements out of 210 students who applied in last 3 years from 2017 to 19.

Not only Panjab University, except the eminent universities like IIT, NIT, IIIT, BITS, ISER, all the placement records from engineering institutes have also come down.
