The two-week UK Generation Study India Programme named 'Gender and Gender Relations in India' ended on Saturday, July 30. This program was the first of its kind that was organized by the Panjab University (PU) in collaboration with the British Council. The programme had begun from July 10 in the Seminar Hall of Punjab University’s Centre for Women's Studies & Development.

Addressing the gathering at the concluding ceremony of the program, Vice-Chancellor of PU, Prof Arun Kumar Grover said that the first batch of students who participated from the UK was largely benefited by attending the programme. He also asked the foreign students to pay India a second visit. The vice-chancellor hoped this program to be the beginning in the league of other foreign programmes that will be introduced in the future.

She also congratulated the students on having achieved knowledge regarding gender issues and Indian culture by coming out of their comfort zones.

Dr. Ameer Sultana, chairperson of the university said that the programme helped the students to personally interact with women at the grass-root levels. She further added that the collaboration has been helpful and hoped that the student batch will stay in touch with the Centre for Women's Studies & Development at Panjab University and will feel motivated to enroll themselves in doctorate and various other programmes.
