Uncertainty Surrounds Establishment of IIIT Srikakulam
According to sources, differences between some of the government officials is the reason due to which the project got shelved.
Earlier, the government of Andhra Pradesh announced that it would establish Indian Institute of Information Technology at Srikakulam. With an objective to commence the academic year in 2016, the government carried out the admission process and these students will study at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Nuzivid until the construction of permanent campus is completed.

However, the construction of IIIT Srikakulam is surrounded with uncertainty as the government revoked the Government Order (GO) for the allotment of land. Initially, the government planned to allocate 340 acres of land at SM Puram of Etcherla mandal. Everything was set for the inauguration of the project. The government also planned foundation stone ceremony, and later the project got shelved due to uncertainty over the allocated land.
Currently, classes are being carried out at IIIT Nuzivid. The officials of IIIT Srikakulam explained that 340 acres of land is necessary for construction as the intake of students will increase to 2,000 in the coming years.

According to sources, differences between some of the government officials is the reason due to which the project got shelved. One of the officials revealed that few influential people had stopped the final allocation of land and now the probability of granting land for IIIT Srikakulam is almost uncertain.
One of the officials expressed his concern that they expected the project to start in this month and the cancellation of GO has hampered the establishment of IIIT Srikakulam. The officials are planning to take up the issue with higher authorities and get the nod for the project.
