UNICEF Launches Health Journalism Course at MANUU
MANUU and UNICEF have jointly announced the introduction of health journalism course for B.A. and M.A. Journalism students. The course will help students in developing better health reporting and contribute to national development.
Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) and UNICEF India have jointly announced the introduction of CAS (Critical Appraisal Skills), a health-reporting course for students pursuing Journalism course at the varsity. UNICEF has designed the CAS course in collaboration with IIMC Delhi, Oxford University and Thomson Reuters Foundation. CAS is an online course, which was introduced as a part of ‘Every Child Alive’ campaign of UNICEF.
Chief of UNICEF Hyderabad Office, Meital Rusdia revealed that the media is the significant part in sustaining the rights of children across the globe. CAS course will be a unique opportunity for students of journalism & media in reputed universities like MANUU. The online CAS course adds critical dimensions of fact-based reporting on health issues with a major focus on the significance of immunization to save millions of children, he highlighted.

Vice Chancellor of MANUU, Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz indicated that the role of media, teachers and parents is critical and vital in shaping society. The course will help students in developing better health reporting and contribute to national development, he hoped.
Core Group Trainer of CAS course, Mr. Pankaj Pachauri explained that the course would initiate a new generation of media persons who will be sensitive towards health reporting. Media is an effective and important tool in mobilizing health issues, he added.

UNICEF and MANUU are set to collaborate for future projects that deal with awareness on different issues. The CAS course will be implemented for M.A. and B.A. Journalism students from the academic session 2018-19.
