Union Cabinet Approves India-Belarus MoU on Vocational Education and Skill Development
- India and Belarus will together improve vocational education and skill development initiatives of the Government of India led by PM Narendra Modi.
- With the MoU, campaigns like Make in India and Skill India will receive tremendous support and guidance from Belarus experts.
The Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi approved Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Belarus and India for cooperation in the field of VET (Vocational Education and Training) on 11th October 2017. The MoU which was initially signed on 12th September 2017, during the Belarus's President Mr. Alexander Lukashenko visit to India.

Belarus is bestowed with a large number of industries which are mainly into manufacturing and related fields. Further, they have a skilled workforce who have been playing a pivotal role in the development of industries. With such a professional and trained work culture and people, Belarus will be able to extend its help and support to our country's initiatives like the 'Skill India’ and ‘Make in India’ campaigns that have been introduced by PM Narendra Modi since he has taken charge in 2014. The MoU is likely to play a significant role in encouraging a systematic transfer of knowledge and expertise in skilling the workforce, particularly in the manufacturing sector.

Belarus and India will establish institutional partnerships between Director General of Training for Transfer of Technology in VET and RIPO (Republican Institute of Vocational Education). As a part of the MoU, Belarus will provide internships and vocational education services for vocational education and training managers, trainers and teachers of India. The nation will also play an important role in enhancing strategies of planning, management, delivery of VET and skill development. Belarus will bring its experience and expertise for overall development in the skill ecosystem of India.
