Union Education Minister Dr Nishank Lays Foundation Stone of IIM Sirmaur
The foundation stone for the new campus of IIM Sirmaur has been laid by the Education Minister. The 210-acre campus located in Dhaulakuan will cost Rs. 390 crores to build.
Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the Union Education Minister, along with Anurag Singh Thakur, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, and Sanjay Dhotre, Minister of State for education, laid the foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Sirmaur. The foundation stone was laid in the virtual mode on 4 August 2020 by the three ministers due to the social distancing norms among the COVID-19 pandemic.
IIM Sirmaur was started in August 2015 with IIM Lucknow as its mentor institution. The institute has been operating so far from its temporary campus at Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh. Work has not begun on the new campus of IIM Sirmaur and the b-school with soon be operational from its 210-acre campus in Dhaulakuan, HP.

IIM Sirmaur started off with a batch of 20 students enrolled in its Post Graduate Programme. Within 5 years, the institute has shown immense promise and reach a total enrollment of 300. Mr Dhotre praised the efforts of the director, management and board to help steer the institute in the right direction.
The campus of IIM Sirmaur, once built, will house 1,170 students. The government has sanctioned a total of Rs. 531.75 cr for IIM Sirmaur and around Rs. 390 cr will be utilised in the construction of the campus and all its facilities.

Dr Pokhriyal, during the inauguration ceremony, said that MBA students were future corporate leaders and have a vital role to play in making the country self-dependent. He emphasised on the need to promote innovation in institutions and work towards an eco-system of excellence.
