University of Hyderabad Gets 'Global University' Status
According to the US News and World Report 2017, the University of Hyderabad is one of the best universities in Telangana and South India to be recognised globally.
According to the US News and World Report 2017, the University of Hyderabad has featured into the list of the ‘Top Global Universities’ in India. It is the first university to be recognised globally as one of the best universities in Telangana and South India.
Similarly, as per the report, the two best institutes in India include Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Punjab University.
The above-mentioned universities and institutes are a part of around 1,262 institutes that have received a mention in the list of ‘Best Global Universities’ across sixty-five (65) countries.

Highlights of the report:
- UoH is the first university to be globally recognised as a premier university in South India and Telangana
- It ranks 14th among the ‘Best Global Universities’ in India and 6th among the full-fledged universities
- Apart from UoH, seven other centrally funded universities made it to the list
- The report highlights the fact that students who wish to pursue higher education in India can and should apply in these top-ranked universities
- The report was released basis the performance indicators in the field of research and the rating of the members of academic fraternity from all over Asia and the world
Founded in the year 1974, University of Hyderabad (UoH) is one of the top public research university in India. It was awarded the Visitor’s Award for being the best central university in the year 2015.
NIRF or the National Institute of Ranking Framework, NAAC or the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and other such bodies have also ranked the university in the A-list.
