University of Mysore to Offer Direct Admission to Foreign Students
- The University of Mysore has decided to grant direct admission to international students without holding an entrance test.
- The varsity has begun the admission process for international students three months in advance.
International students aspiring to get admission in the University of Mysore must note that the varsity has decided not to conduct an entrance exam for the admission to different courses. The varsity has relaxed the visa process for international students following which foreign students with an Indian degree or a foreign degree will be eligible for direct admission to the University of Mysore.
International Centre at the University of Mysore will start the admission process for international students three months in advance. For the upcoming academic session, the varsity is targeting to admit at least 1,300 students. Further, the varsity’s aim is to enrol 3,000 international students by 2020.

The reason behind commencing the admission process for international students three months in advance is to give them more time to arrange visas. These students will get provisional admission from the varsity after they produce the eligibility certificate. The varsity will check the marks of the students and take the decision on granting admission to the respective student. With the provisional admission letter, international students will be able to apply for visas and get admission in the respective courses.
After Pune University, the University of Mysore stands in the second place in terms of the number of international students pursuing higher education in India. At present, close to 765 international students from 55 countries are pursuing various courses at the University of Mysore. The majority of students are from Africa and Afghanistan.

According to experts, most international students from developing nations prefer India to pursue higher studies due to quality education available at a reasonable cost. On the other hand, the cost of living in India is also minimal apart from the conducive academic environment available to them.
