UoH Student Bags Fully-Funded PhD Course at University of Missouri, USA

An Alumnus from the School of Physics at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), Teja Teppala, has been granted a graduate position which is fully funded at the University of Missouri, USA. He will be pursuing a PhD programme at the University of Missouri in Columbia with the goal of completing his aspiration of studying observational extragalactic astronomy. He will particularly focus on the evolution and formation of galaxies for the research programme that he will be pursuing at the university.

To help in his research programme, he will be using the data that has been collected from the Cosmic Assembly Near-infrared Deep Extragalactic Legacy Survey, also known as CANDELS. CANDELS is one of the biggest survey programmes that is conducted at the Hubble Space Telescope which is used to study the characteristics of galaxies,

Teja Teppala has completed his Integrated Master’s degree along with an IMSc in Physics degree last year in May. Teja Teppala has completed various projects prior to being offered the graduate position at the University of Missouri. Currently, he is working on a project under the guidance of Dr Seema Pooranchand at the School of Physics at the University of Hyderabad.

He has completed various different projects previously. One of the projects that he has undertaken has been at the Physical Research Laboratory in the Indian Academy of Sciences, Ahmedabad under the mentorship of Shashikaran Ganesh. Another project that he had undertaken was through the Pulsar Observatory for students at the Ooty Radio Telescope, which is a programme provided by under the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics.
