UP Board Exams 2018: Over 10 Lakh Students Skip Exams in Four Days

For the first time, Uttar Pradesh Board has been witnessing a huge number of absentees for UP Board Exams. So far, over 10 lakh students skipped the UP Board Exams 2018. The state government’s rigid measures to prevent mass cheating and mass copy in examinations are the reasons for the huge number of absentees. The officials of UP Board confirmed that 6,24,473 Class 10 students and 4,20,146 Intermediate students skipped the UP Board Exams 2018 as on February 09, 2018.

The strict measures taken by the government might also influence the overall pass percentage this year. According to sources, there might be chances for the drop of pass percentage by 50 this year.
Commenting on the issue of a huge number of absentees, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Yogi Adityanath mentioned that the state government decided to hold cheating-free exam and the government is not concerned about the huge number of absentees. Finally, the state government has been successful in instilling the fear of misconduct during exams among the students. However, he advised the students to consider exams as a daily routine rather than challenge.

This year, UP Board took various measures like installing CCTV cameras in exam centres, online allotment of exam centres, deploying special police personnel to ensure smooth conduct of exams.
