UP Board Exams 2020 Begin, 2.39 Lakh Candidates Skip Exam on Day 1

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Board Exams 2020 commenced on February 19, 2020, and the first day, almost 2.39 lakh candidates skipped the exam. A total number of 1,57,000 from Intermediate skipped the board exams, while 82,091 students from 10th did not turn up for exams this year.

On the first day of UP Board Exams 2020, 34 students were booked for resorting to malpractices during the exams. Out of the 34 students, 27 (one boy and girl) were from Class 10th and seven from Intermediate. UP Board registered seven FIRs against irregularities.

CCTV cameras have been installed in all the exam centres across the state, and the invigilators are also not being allowed to carry any electronic devices into the exam centre.

A Report on UP Board Exams 2018

The UP Board exams 2018 for class 10 and class 12 have started on February 6, 2018. A total of 66,37,018 students will be appearing for the exams in 2018. UP Board exams 2018 will continue till March 12, 2018. Students will appear for exams across 153 centres allocted by the state.

The board has taken various measures to prevent cheating and malpractices during the UP secondary exam. In 2017, a total of 1,862 students of the board were caught cheating. From security measures to CCTV cameras, the UP Board is all set to catch culprits who try to defame the board with cheating practices. With the aim to maintain transparency during the exam, the board has introduced the following measures.

UP Board Exam 2018 Measures to Prevent Cheating:

  • A Special Task Force (STF) has been appointed to keep the education mafia in line and ensure that the examinations are cheating free.
  • CCTVcameras have been made mandatory for all UP Board Exam centres. Also, 43 centres that were infamous for cheating have been removed from the list of centres.
  • The entire state has been divided into 3 super zones to be looked after by ADMs, 7 zones and 27 sectors to be supervised by SDMs and city magistrate.
  • 109 static magistrates have been appointed to keep a check on the sensitive centres that are prone to cheating. Seven flying squads will also operate keep a watch during the exams.
  • The opening of question papers and sealing of answer sheets will be done under the surveillance of CCTV cameras.
  • FIRs will be recorded against centre superintendents and invigilators if mass copying cases are reported in any region.
