One day National seminar/workshop on E waste management was organized by Health Safety & Environment department of University of petroleum and energy studies, Dehradun with the support of Uttarakhand Council of Science & Technology, Dehradun (UCOST) and in association with Uttarakhand Environment Protection & Pollution Control Board, Dehradun, Metrohm- New Delhi and Attero Recycling Plant.
Dr Rajender Dhobal ( Director General UCOST) was the chief guest of the workshop and started the seminar with a speech which enlightened the young minds on E waste management. Dr Dobhal shared his experience on E-waste issues giving his real life example. In his speech he highlighted role of rules & regulations related to environmental problems. Dr. Kamal Bansal , Dean college of engineering in his address appreciated efforts of Dr.Dobhal for his support for conducting such programs which directly helps the society.
Under invited categories of lecture Dr Lakahmi Raghupathy (Ex-Advisor, MoEF) delivered a speech on latest trends in e- waste management, in her speech she highlighted the stake holders in e-waste value chain, policy, regulation, special rules in e-waste management and e-waste recycling. Dr. T.K Joshi, discussed various health effects of E-waste during unscientific dismantling of e-waste, also described about hazardous chemicals such as cadmium, lead, beryllium, and their health effects. Mr Amit, an expert from Attero recycling pant highlighted their modern facilities for the management of the electronic wastes, explained about the recycling process and their latest achievement on electronic waste management. Mr. J.S. Dang, Ex Scientist IIP, Dehradun discussed about policy on the management of E -Waste.
