Less Number of Seats for PSC Mains: UPPSC has reduced the seats for PCS Mains from 18 candidates to 13 candidates. This means that after PCS Prelims, only 13 candidates will be competing for one post instead of 18 candidates.
Less Number of Candidates in the Interview Round: Earlier, three candidates used to compete for a post in the interview round for PCS examination. The number of candidates has now been reduced to 2.

The decision of revamping the examination came as a shocker to the PCS aspirants who were preparing for the subjects that are now removed from the list of optional subjects. Talking to a media house, Jagdish Prasad, UPPSC Secretary said that the subjects like Arabic and Persian were inessential as not even a single candidate had opted for the subjects in the past 5 years.
