UPSC Age Limit Criteria: J&K Aspirants Get 5 Years Relaxation
- UPSC has amended the notification to grant a maximum of five years relaxation to Jammu & Kashmir candidates who wish to sit for civil services exam.

The Union Government has released a notification stating that the age limit for the candidates appearing in UPSC Civil Services exam from Jammu & Kashmir has been extended and revised. The Union Public Service Commission is the nodal body that conducts the civil services examinations year after year.
The maximum age limit to be eligible to appear for the civil services exam is 32 years for candidates of the general category. However, for the reserved category candidates, the age limit varies from category to category. With the latest notification and announcement, candidates belonging to Jammu and Kashmir already had an extended age limit but UPSC took the further decision to remove it from CSE 2018.

The Chief Minister of the J&K state, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti had raised the issue regarding age limit a few days back. UPSC has amended the notification and has decided to grant a maximum of five years relaxation to candidates who wish to sit for civil services examination.
As per the DoPT- Department of Personnel and Training, the Central Government took the decision to extend the age limit by five years for all the candidates having Jammu and Kashmir as their domicile from the period 1 January 1980 to 31 December 1989 for a further period of two years beyond 31 December 2013.

The civil services examination is conducted annually for the post of IAS, IFS and IPS officers from all over the country. The age extension decision will definitely help thousands of youth belonging to the J&K state who wish to take UPSC Civil Services exams.
