UPSC CDS (1) Exam is scheduled to be held on April 10, 2022. The Combined Defence Services examination is considered one of the most predominant exams conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. CDS exam is conducted twice a year. UPSC CDS (1) 2022- Written Exam Pattern
UPSC CDS Written exam comprises three papers- English Paper, General Knowledge Paper, and Elementary Mathematics Paper.
- In order to qualify for the written test, aspirants have to clear all three papers.
- Each paper comprises Objective type questions.
- Total exam duration for the Written test is six hours.
- Each paper is given two hours time. Exam conducted for Air Force Academy (AFA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and Indian Military Academy (IMA) consist of three sections and 300 marks. On the other side, the exam conducted for Officers’ Training Academy (OTA) comprises two sections and 200 marks.
- Aspirants must also note that there is also a negative marking scheme i.e. 1/3rd marks are deducted for every wrong question.

UPSC CDS Question Paper Pattern for INA, IMA, and AFA
UPSC CDS written exam for INA, IMA, and AFA comprises three sections as mentioned below. This section consists of 300 marks. Negative marking is also there in this section. Check below for full details.

UPSC CDS (1) 2022- Marking Scheme
UPSC CDS exam Marking Scheme has been discussed in this section. In order to successfully clear the written examination, aspirants must keep the below-mentioned points in their mind while appearing for the CDS exam.
- Each question carries one mark value.
- For every right question one mark is given.
- 1/3rd of the total marks are deducted for each wrong question i.e. 0.33 marks are deducted for every wrong question.
- In case a question is not attempted by the candidate then neither marks are deducted nor marks are allotted for that particular question.

UPSC CDS (1) 2022 - Interview
UPSC CDS Interview is conducted for those candidates who have successfully cleared the written examination. UPSC CDS interview takes place for 5 days in which a thorough inspection of the candidate's overall personality is done. Given below are some of the important highlights of UPSC CDS interview.
- UPSC CDS Interview Exam comprises 300 Marks for INA, IMA, and AFA. For OTA, the interview exam consists of 200 Marks.
- UPSC CDS interview comprises two stages- Stage 1 and Stage 2.
- Only those candidates who clear Stage 1 of the interview round will be allowed to appear for Stage 2 of the interview round.
- Stage 1 consists of Picture Perception Description Test (PP&DT) and Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests.
- Stage 2 consists of Interviews, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, and conferences. These tests are conducted over a period of 5 days.
