UPSEE Topper Not Keen on Joining the AKTU Institutes

The UPSEE toppers from Lucknow are not keen on joining the AKTU institutes. Samriddh Joshi said he was keen on joining IIT.

Son of a special bureau official, Samriddh has also secured a good rank in IIT Mains examination. Samriddh said, “I am happy that I have secured the top rank but I will not be joining the AKTU institutes. I would rather go in for the IITs,” he said. He said that he was aiming at IIT, Mumbai, but was not sure whether he would be able to get a seat there. “The advanced paper of the IIT was very tough hence I am not sure of getting the coveted college. I have secured 308 marks in the IIT Mains examination and am sure that I will be able to make it to IIT, Kanpur,” the young achiever said.

Samriddh said that he did not make any special preparation for the UPSEE . “I had been preparing for the engineering examinations and I made no special preparation for this one. I was expecting good marks because I had made a good attempt,” he said. When informed that special incentives had been announced for the topper and would that make him change his mind about joining an AKTU institute, he said that his decision would remain the same.

The student admitted that though he had taken up the engineering stream, he was also interested in attempting Civil Services examination. Akshat Rathore from Lucknow, who has secured the eighth rank, also said that he was not keen on joining AKTU institutes. “I secured a good rank last year also and was getting the best institute of AKTU but I preferred to drop for a year and prepare for the IIT,” he said.

Admitting that the AKTU institutes were not on par with the IITs, he said that he took the examination as a sort of practice. “The UPSEE is all about speed and concept and serves as a good practice,” he said. Akshat, who has secured 233 marks in the IIT Mains, said that he was expecting a rank in the first 3,000 and was sure to get a good institute.
