US Embassy Plans to Introduce Dedicated App for Overseas Students
The US Embassy is set to launch an app with a reputed visa consultant company to provide US study aspirants with all relevant and authentic information.
To convey advice and avoid frauds, the United States Embassy in India has decided to collaborate with a visa consultant company to help students who aspire to study overseas, especially in the US. 400 Universities across the United States receive applications from Indian students. Currently, the US Universities are in a quest to add more diversity in the student demographics and their first priority is none other than the immensely diverse nation of India. Thousands of US universities are reportedly inviting Indian students on board. Karl Adam who is the Deputy Cultural Affairs Officer in the US Embassy of India has said to the media that every year the number of students visiting the US for higher studies is increasing. There were around 200,000 Indian students last year who took admissions in various US Universities.
Talking about the Initiative, Adam said that most students who apply for US Universities are from Hyderabad. Hyderabad is a hotspot of US Study VISA issuance. The app which is set be launched in June will guide the students for studying abroad and provide all kind of required information from authentic sources. It will also make it easier for the embassy to get in touch with the aspirants. Thee embassy currently connects through facebook with the students.
However, the app's collaboration with a visa consultant from India is a part of the pilot project. The continuation of the application and its services will depend on the success of this pilot project. The US embassy has made it clear that the app does not file applications. It will only serve as a mode of delivering information and advice. For example, facing the interview of the counsellor, if the aspirant is asked how will he/she pay the application fees, the candidate should have a clear knowledge how the process is done and what are the ways.
The app will help the student by giving advice on the basis of the students’ choices. The student will be given the suitable institutions’ names on the basis of his/her choice of studies. There are around 4,700 higher study institutions in the US out of which, the students will pick as per their preferences. They will also be guided through the scholarship process.

Adam said that there are thousands of good higher education institutions in the US who would like to have Indian students but due to lack of information, 70% of Indian students end up in 300-400 higher study institutes. The application will also work to solve this problem.
