US: Indian-American Student gets $5,000 Scholarship for Essay
Arth Patel, an Indian-American student, has won a scholarship worth 5,000 USD for his essay on contribution of dental health regarding the hygiene of children and families in the US.
Arth Patel, an Indian-American student, has won a scholarship worth 5,000 USD for his essay on contribution of dental health regarding the well-being and hygiene of children and families in the US.
Arth is studying dental sciences at the University of California – Los Angeles, School of Dentistry. In his essay regarding dental health, he shared the experiences that he gained while growing up in rural India. His essay talked about the lack of quality dental care in the remote areas.

In his essay, he talked about the community-based dental healthcare programmes that are provided in US and how his family benefited from these programmes in upholding their dental health.
According to the university, his essay was picked as the best among all for highlighting the importance of dental health. For his elaborated content and fine presentation of the importance of dental health, Arth was awarded a scholarship of 5,000 USD.
The essay contest was organized by Kool Smiles. It is a popular dental health care organization that aims at providing quality dental care to the underserved communities in the US. Kool Smiles is headquartered in Georgia, and has more than 100 centers in 16 different states.

This was the first time that the organization conducted the annual My Kool Smiles Scholarship Fund essay contest. Arth has been named the first winner of the contest. The contest is sponsored by the Benevis Foundation.
