Uttar Pradesh will get 11 new medical colleges in next two years. These colleges would add 1,000 more medical seats to existing ones.
Speaking at a function at KGMU Anoop Chandra Pandey principal secretary, medical education said that as many as 11 new medical colleges will be opening in the state in the next two years. He added that budget had been sanctioned for 11 new medical colleges coming up in Firozabad, Jaunpur, Chandauli, Najibabad, Bahraich and Shahjahanpur.
According to Pandey, “Relevant clearance from Medical Council of India has already been obtained. He also added that only eight medical colleges could come up between 1947 and 2012. Compared to this, development in the past five years has been remarkable.
He said seats in post graduate courses were being increased to provide teaching staff to the new medical colleges. Pandey said that reforms had taken place to benefit nursing and paramedical staff too.
Also, Government is ensuring that health projects in KGMU and other parts of UP complete on time, for that state government has taken some special steps. Stating this at KGMU on Monday, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said, “An agency will ensure there is no delay in the project. Deadlines will also be fixed for the agency.“
