Veltech University & Govt. of Andhra Pradesh Sign Pact to Develop E-bicycle
Veltech Dr RR & Dr SR University and Government of Andhra Pradesh have signed a MoU for developing e-bicycle with Francecol, France.
Veltech Dr. RR & Dr. SR University and Government of Andhra Pradesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently during the Partnership Summit 2017 for developing e-Bicycle with Francecol, France.
The MoU was signed between Mr. K.V.D. Kishore Kumar, Vice President, Veltech Dr. RR & Dr. SR University and Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh at a solemn ceremony.
The MoU came to the forefront after the students of the University, in collaboration with France-based Francecol Technology Company, developed a new electric bicycle. As per the press report of the University, the students of the University have created an embedded wheel driven e-bicycle which is the first of its kind in the existing category of bicycles.
The e-bicycle looks like any ordinary bicycle and has a specially designed wheel drive. It can turn any ordinary bicycle into an e-bicycle.
Veltech University students have developed the power drive and it is embedded with the control system which works on inverter technology. The drive of the bicycle can convert the direct current from the battery into a three-phase current. The wheel drive of the bicycle is also enabled with Bluetooth technology. It can be tracked easily and used for rental services.

Dr. U. Chandra Shekar, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Veltech University, said that the idea behind the concept is to provide pollution free transport in the smart cities. The cost of the e-bicycle will be about INR 10,000 and it can move at a speed of 60 km per hour with the support of 500W power.
The students and faculty of the University successfully made the presentation of the Bicycle in front of the Chief Minister, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu after which a MoU was signed between the two parties for further development of this project.
