IIT Gandhinagar to Conduct Seminar Series Virtually Amidst the Nationwide Lockdown
IIT Gandhinagar has decided to continue this virtual seminar series going until the end of the summer vacation twice every week - Monday and Friday between 4 and 5:30 PM.
The faculty members of the India Institute of Technology Gandhinagar or IITGN have decided to conduct a virtual seminar series from 24th April 2020 which will help them to keep the academic discourse flowing amidst the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic which resulted in a nationwide lockdown. The topics that will be covered in the seminar series will be available for the general audience.
According to a statement released from IITGN, every week there will be two seminars, i.e from 16:00 HRS to 17:30 HRS on every Monday and Friday. This seminar series will be conducted until the summer vacation concludes, added the statement.
The topics which will be up for the seminar series are fluid mechanics, languages & scripts of India, properties of glassy materials, the relationship between viruses and humans, tradition and culture of the Nagas, nanotechnology, aspects of black hole physics etc.

Professor Sudipta Sarkar, member of the speaker faculty and coordinator said that the outbreak of this global pandemic has pushed them to try out something new that has never been tried before. Plans regarding using online platforms to disseminate various innovative educational programmes are being prepared.

He also said that the seminar series, which will be conducted from 24th April onwards, will provide an intellectual tool beneficial to all at this time of crisis. The coronavirus pandemic has affected every academic operation worldwide.
