Walkathon 2020 Against Child Labour and Trafficking Organised by IIM Ranchi
'WALKATHON 2020' organised by UNGC PRME, IIM Ranchi in association with the RUSH Organising Team. The event was aimed at raising the issue of child labour, child trafficking and saving the girl child, some key issues prevalent in India.
The Steering Committee of the UNGC PRME (United Nations Global Compact - Principles of Responsible Management Education) from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ranchi organised the 'WALKATHON 2020' event in Ranchi on 2 February 2020. The event was held in association with the RUSH Organising Team and with the support of NKOWS, Khelgaon, Ranchi.
The event was organised against the issues of child labour, child trafficking and to promote saving the girl child, several issues which are widely prevalent in India. It was a 1.5 km long walk that started at the Khelgaon Housing Complex and ended at the Mega Sports Complex, Ranchi.

The event was a part of RUSH, IIM Ranchi's cultural and sports fest from 1 - 2 February 2020. Residents of the Khelgaon Games Housing Complex and students of IIM Ranchi participated in the event. Participating along with the students were Ravindra Nath Bhagat (President of the National Games Khelgaon Housing Complex), Prof. Rohit Kumar (Professor of Strategic Management at IIM Ranchi) and Satish Kumar (Senior Administrative Office at IIM Ranchi).

Dr. Randhir Kumar, the National President of the National Human Rights Crime Control Bureau, was the chief guest of honour at the event. In his opening speech, Dr Kumar stressed upon the need to know why trafficking was still prevalent in the country. Mr Ravindra Nath Bhagat also addressed the gathering and brought up the need for finding the root cause of child trafficking in India. He also lauded the students' efforts to raise such issues and encouraged them to root out the problem of child trafficking.
