WGSHA Enters Limca Book of Records For Establishing India's First Culinary Arts Museum
WGSHA has entered into the Limca Book of Records for establishing the first living culinary arts museum in India. Founded and curated by celebrity chef Vikas Khanna, the museum houses over 2,000 utensils and artefacts showcasing India's rich culinary history.
Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), the hotel management college of Manipal University, has entered into the Limca Book of Records (LBR) for the establishment of India's first living culinary arts museum.
Founded and designed by the Vikas Khanna, a renowned celebrity chef who is an alumnus of WGSHA, the museum was established to preserve India's rich history of culinary arts. Chef Vikas has also donated millions of dollars worth of kitchen tools and equipment to the museum.

The museum is housed inside the culinary arts academic block of WGSHA, which was opened in 2018. Spread over an area of around 25,000 sq. ft. the block has been designed in the shape of a pot similar to the pots found in Harappa.
It showcases over 2,000 utensils and artefacts related to Indian culinary arts. A 100-year old ladle used to distribute food at temples, an old seed sprinkler, bowls dating as far back as the Harappan era, plates made by the Portuguese in India are some of the items that can be seen at the museum.
Also displayed at the museum are vessels from the regions of Konkan, Udupi and Chettinad, an ancient samovar, a tea brewing utensil from Kashmir, as well as a collection of utensils found in Indian kitchens.

Chef Thiru, the principal of WGSHA, sharing more information about this achievement, said that the whole process took over six months to finish. He also took to Twitter and posted a photo of the certificate issued by LBR to WGSHA.
Chef Thiru also thanked the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), ITC Leadership and everybody who had a share towards the development of this first of its kind museum in the WGSHA campus.
