What is 'Slide' after JoSAA Seat Allotment 2024?
In cases where the candidate is satisfied with the allotted institute but not with the allotted branch/course, then he/she shall choose the ‘Slide’ option. Slide in JoSAA counselling allows the allocation to shift between branches higher in preference of the same institute.
Just as with Float, the student will retain the current allocation after choosing Slide. Only if a higher preference is allotted, then the candidate loses the currently allotted seat. If no higher preference is allotted, then the current allocation will be retained unless the candidate either Freezes or Rejects the seat.

Instructions for Slide in JoSAA Seat Allotment 2024
If willing to opt for the Slide option in JoSAA 2024, the following instructions shall be noted:
If a candidate selects Slide, then they are eligible to participate in the upcoming counselling rounds.
Changes in ‘Institute’ are not applicable under Slide. Only ‘Branch’ changes will happen, as per the availability of vacancies and branch cutoff.
Similar to Float, only those who are allotted other than first preference can opt for Slide. Furthermore, the Slide option will only be available until Round 4. Only the Freeze or Reject option will be accessible in Round 5.
It is mandatory to report online after each counselling round. In case the candidate’s preference changes, then he/she can opt for Float/Freeze in any of the subsequent rounds.
Payment of the ‘Seat Acceptance Fee’ is also mandatory for Slide. Failure to pay the fee within the given deadline will be treated as a rejection of the seat. Such candidates will not be allowed to appear in any of the further counselling rounds.
Seat Acceptance Fee for General, OBC, and EWS is Rs 35,000/- and that for SC, ST, and PwD is Rs 17,500/-.
In this, Rs 5,000/- will be the JoSAA processing fee while the remaining will be adjusted in institute fees at the time of admission.
The seat acceptance fee is to be paid only once in the entire counselling when the seat is allotted for the first time.
Other than fee payment, uploading of required documents is also mandatory if Slide is selected.
The fee shall be paid online through any of the following means: Debit card, Credit card, UPI, Net Banking, or E-Challan.
- Responding to queries raised by JoSAA officers is also mandatory. Failure to do so may lead to seat cancellation and disqualification from the counselling.
