Why should NEET PG 2022 be postponed?
NEET PG 2022 has been running into quite a number of controversies lately. Recently, the All India Medical Students' Association has mailed a letter to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare regarding the postponement of NEET PG 2022.
NEET PG 2022 has been scheduled to be conducted on May 21, 2022, as per all the official notifications. It will be held in a computer-based mode offline in different exam centres as allotted to candidates. March 25 was the last date to submit the online Application Form for NEET PG 2022.
With the exam running into several snags along the way, NEET PG 2022 has stirred up a storm in the medical students’ associations. As per the recent letter sent to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India by the All India Medical Students’ Association, there are several reasons why they think the exam date for NEET PG this year should be postponed at least 8 to 10 weeks.

The reasons that the Association has cited for the deferment of the exam date are the following:
- The NEET PG 2021 Counselling has been running into one trouble after another and is scheduled to be completed by May 3, 2022. However, with the Supreme Court rulings, it is indeed a matter of clear concern as to whether the completion will be fruitful within time. Moreover, there is an air of uncertainty all around regarding the counselling process.
- The time span between the completion of the mop-up counselling round for NEET PG 2021 and the exam date for NEET PG 2022 is too short for repeat candidates to prepare for the exam. This will create trying circumstances for the mid-ranker students who hope for better seats by appearing for NEET PG 2022.
- With the cancellation of the last mop-up round due to the faulty conduction by the MCC, several students lost seats. There were also several who were left with no seats and yet had not registered for NEET PG 2022. Fitting them into such a tight schedule is almost impossible.
- Last but not least, the 5000 interns who had not been able to complete their mandatory 12-month long rotatory internship due to Covid-19 ward duties at the call of the Honourable Prime Minister will not be able to appear for the exam this year which falls under injustice.
With the deferment of the exam for a few weeks, preparation time will be increased and the process will go through smoothly.
