Wildlife Institute of India Invites Application for Masters in Heritage Conservation and Management

The Wildlife Institute of India has started the application process for admission to its master's degree course in the subject of Heritage Conservation and Management. This falls under the World Natural Heritage Management and Training Scheme of UNESCO.

The Wildlife Institute of India is a prestigious autonomous institute of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of the Government of India. It is a national institute that caters to research, training and advisory services for wildlife conservation and management.

About Wildlife Institute Master's in Heritage Conservation and Management

The master's programme in Heritage Conservation and Management is a two-year long residential course which will begin from 1st July 2019. It is introduced by UNESCO C2C and is currently affiliated to the Saurashtra University of Rajkot, Gujarat.

The students who complete this course can make a career in the interdisciplinary field of heritage conservation. National agencies, international organisations and private sector establishments in the area of heritage conservation and management are some of the most popular potential employers for a job in this field.

This masters degree course is interdisciplinary and it teaches about sustainability studies via the prism of heritage. It includes the methodological and theoretical integration of social sciences and humanities, heritage studies, and ecological sciences. The programme also offers internships, taught courses and direct engagement with UNESCO. It will be an interactive and participatory pedagogy which will involve Information, Communication and Technology resources (ICT).

Wildlife Institute Master's in Heritage Conservation and Management Eligibility Criteria:

• The applicant must be a graduate from a recognised university with at least 50% marks in aggregate if he/she is a general or OBC candidate.
• The SC/ST candidates must have a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in their graduation.
• The applicant must have obtained his/her degrees via at least 15 years of formal education, which is either 10+2+3 or 11+2+2.
• The candidates who are appearing for their final exams of bachelors can also apply for the course. They will have to provide their graduation pass certificate to the registration at Saurashtra University by 1st August 2019.
• The candidate must be NET qualified to be a further part of the selection process
• The maximum age limit for applying to this course is 25 years as on 1st July 2019. A relaxation of 5 years is given to the reserved candidates and 3 years to foreign students. The age limit for professionals and in-service candidates is 35 years.

Wildlife Institute Master's in Heritage Conservation and Management Selection Process

The shortlisted candidates will then be required to give a Personality and Aptitude Test (PAT) which will be followed by an interview. This will be done in Dehradun. The interview of the general candidates will be on 29th May 2019 and the reserved candidates will have their interview on 30th May 2019. The selection will be made based on each candidates merit. The ratio of NET and PAT marks that will be considered is 7:3.

The selected candidates will have to confirm their acceptance by 10th June 2019. If they fail to do so, their admission will be cancelled and waitlisted candidates will be offered that seat. The last date to submit the application form is 25th April 2019. The application fees is Rs. 1,000 and the form can be submitted online. The intake for this course is 10.
