HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal interacted with students on December 10, 2020. In his interaction, the minister expressed the possibility of conducting the JEE Main 2021 exam more than twice. It means that the candidates will be given a chance to attempt the exam multiple times. As of now, the exam is being conducted twice a year. The minister indicated that conducting JEE Main more than twice will be possible only if there is a requirement. The ministry is holding consultations on confirming the 2021 exam date of JEE Main as early as possible.

If JEE Main is conducted more than twice, it will be an advantage for students to improve his/ her performance. As NTA considers the highest score secured in any of the attempts of JEE Main, it will be a great opportunity for students to identify the weak areas and improve their performance accordingly. However, no final decision has been taken with regard to the same.

The minister also assured that the CBSE practical exam dates and JEE Main phase 1 exam date will not clash. Enough gap will be given between these two exams so that students get time to prepare for both accordingly. The minister also ruled out the possibility of canceling the JEE Main 2021 exam.

Regarding the reduction of the JEE Main 2021 syllabus, the minister said that discussions are on with various states, and a final decision shall be taken as early as possible.
