The Minister was addressing the inaugural session of the vice-chancellors' south zone conference of various universities at Vignan University in Guntur district Andhra Pradesh.

More Details about New Education Policy

  • New policy is now going through a consultation process
  • It aims to produce students and graduates equipped with skills, knowledge, attitude and values
  • Engage the youth in the country’s development process

The minister also warned that if present higher education system does not result in right products, it would lead to serious socio-economic and political implications.

He remembered how India was a pioneer of education in ancient times and now the country is lagging behind other nations in terms of both quality and quantity. Thousands of students flock to other countries for higher studies, which is a matter of serious concern. He appealed to the vice-chancellors to think about it and do the needful.
