Yoga Diploma Holders to have Preference in Physiotherapy Graduate Courses
- According to UGC, candidates who have at least one-year diploma in Yoga will be given preference during the admission process.

University Grants Commission has decided to give preference during admission to graduate programmes in Physiotherapy to the applicants who have required expertise in Yoga. As per UGC, candidates who have at least one-year diploma in Yoga will be given preference during the admission process.
The admission will be on the basis of marks secured in the entrance tests and only if candidates meet the eligibility criteria as well. The eligibility criteria will be same for all the candidates i.e. Yoga Diploma Holders & Non - Yoga Diploma Holders for the bachelor's and master's courses in physiotherapy.

The UGC has formed an Expert Committee to examine whether any preference can be provided to the candidates seeking admission to graduate courses in physiotherapy provided candidates have the requisite expertise in Yoga. The recommendation of the Expert Committee has been approved by the UGC and HRD as well as per the circular sent by the UGC Secretary to the vice-chancellor of all the universities.

As per the circular, the universities have been asked to take note of the recommendation during the time of college and also to inform the college affiliated to the respective universities. In 2016, UGC had also asked the universities to include modules of training and teachings of Yoga in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of Physiotherapy.
