IBPS Clerk 2025 Eligibility Criteria

IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2025 will be released along with the official notification on the official website of Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. The eligibility criteria for IBPS Clerk 2025 are divided into three main aspects: Nationality, Age Limit, and Educational Qualification. A candidate must be a citizen of India or meet certain conditions for subjects of Nepal, Bhutan or Tibetan refugees who migrated before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanent settlement. The age limit for candidates should be between 20 to 28 years, with age relaxations provided for specific categories of students like SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (10 years), Ex-Servicemen (actual period of service + 3 years, subject to a maximum age limit of 50 years), Widows, Divorced Women and Women judicially separated from their husbands (9 years), and Persons affected by the 1984 riots (5 years).

For the educational qualification, every applicant must possess a Bachelorโ€™s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or its equivalent as of the date mentioned in the official notification. Proficiency in the official language of the state or union territory they are applying for is essential, which means candidates should be able to read, write, and speak the language. Basic computer literacy is also required, thereby requiring candidates should have studied Computer / Information Technology as a subject in high school, college, or possess a diploma or certification in computer operations. Additionally, candidates must hold valid documents as proof of their eligibility criteria when required during the recruitment process.

IBPS Clerk 2025 Eligibility Criteria - Nationality

Following are the eligibility requirements that candidates must adhere to apply for IBPS clerk exams:

  • A candidate should be an Indian citizen or
  • He/She may also be a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan or Tibetan Refugee
  • A Tibetan Refugee came over to India before 1st January 1963 with the intention of settling permanently in India.
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

  • The candidate should be between 20 Years and 28 Years.
  • The candidate should be born after 02.08.1989 and before 01.08.1997.

    IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria - Academic Requirements

    • A Bachelor's Degree in any subject from any University recognised by the Government of India or any Central Government.
    • While applying for IBPS Clerk 2025, candidates should have a valid mark sheet/degree certificate of their graduation.
    • All academic qualifications should be from a University/ Institution/ Board recognised by the Government of India/ approved by Government Regulatory Bodies and the result should have been declared on or before September 2025.

    Computer Literacy:

    • Candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/College/Institute.

    • Candidates should know how to read/ write and speak the Official Language of the State/UT.

    Reservation Policy for IBPS Clerk Exam 2025

    The reservation policy applies only to the applicants who fall under the category of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities as prescribed by the exam conducting authority. It is to note that the reservation policy for certain categories has been imposed under the section 34 of โ€œThe Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016โ€ which explains the right for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities to get a reservation for any such examination. The details of the reservation policy define the leverage given to applicants who inherit certain disabilities as mentioned below:

    • Autism, Mental Illness, Specific Learning Disability, and Intellectual Disability.

    • Low Vision and Blindness

    • Locomotor Disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims and Muscular Dystrophy

    • Deaf and Hard of Hearing

    • Multiple Disabilities including the ones falling under the category of Low Vision and Blindness and Autism, Mental Illness, Specific Learning Disability and Intellectual Disability, including deaf-blindness in the posts identified for each disability.

    Note: Applicants must remember that the reserved vacancies will be subject to the vacancies and availability reported by the Participating Organisations of IBPS Clerk 2025.

    Reservation Policy for IBPS Clerk Exam 2025-Economically Backward Section

    • Persons who have not been covered by the existing scheme of reservations to the Scheduled Castes, the Schedule Tribes and the Other Backward Classes and whose family has gross annual income below INR 8.00 lakh comes under the category of Economically Backward Section. 
    • Th income for EWS is calculated from all sources i.e. salary, agriculture, business, profession etc. and it will be income for the financial year prior to the year of application.
    • Person who family possess any of the following properties will also be exempted from the EWS category for IBPS exam:
    1. 5 acres of Agricultural Land and above;
    2. Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above;
    3. Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities;
    4. Residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified municipalities.

    Yes, it is mandatory for the candidate to know how to use the computer. Although it is not compulsory to have Diploma in Computer Technology. Candidate should at least fulfil on of the following aspects in order to apply for IBPS clerk exam: Candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/College/Institute.

    How is the graduation percentage calculated for IBPS clerk exam?

    For calculating the percentage of the graudation degree marks, candidates need to divide the total marks obtained in all the subjects in all semester(s)/year(s) by aggregate maximum marks (in all the subjects irrespective of honours / optional / additional optional subject, if any) multiplied by 100. This will be applicable for those Universities also where Class / Grade is decided on basis of Honours marks only.

    Do visually impaired candidates have to arrange their own scribe for IBPS clerk exam?

    Yes, the visually impaired candidates and candidates whose writing speed is adversely affected permanently for any reason can use their own scribe at their cost during the online examination (Preliminary and Main). Candidates have to arrange their own scribe for the exam.
