IBPS Clerk 2024 Eligibility Criteria

IBPS Clerk exam is an examination conducted for aspirants who wish to acquire clerical cadre posts at different financial institutions and public sector banks. Candidates who wish to apply for the national-level banking examination need to know about the IBPS Clerk 2024 Eligibility Criteria. The eligibility criteria define the details that every applicant is required to fulfill if they want to take the IBPS Clerk 2024 test. These defining criteria include age limitation, educational qualification, nationality, categorization, etc. Satisfying these factors is necessary for a successful chance of getting permission to sit for the examination. The ones who fail to accomplish any of these defining factors will not be allowed to appear for the examination. It is also important to know that the candidates found faking the information provided will be debarred from any attempts of the IBPS Clerk.

After confirming the eligibility norms of the examination, candidates can switch to the Application Process of IBPS Clerk 2024. The application process can be done only through an online medium and no other means to fill the application form is applicable. IBPS Clerk 2024 Eligibility Criteria - Nationality

Following are the eligibility requirements that candidates must adhere to apply for IBPS clerk exams:

  • A candidate should be an Indian citizen or
  • He/She may also be a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan or Tibetan Refugee
  • A Tibetan Refugee came over to India before 1st January 1963 with the intention of settling permanently in India.
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

  • The candidate should be between 20 Years and 28 Years.
  • The candidate should be born after 02.08.1989 and before 01.08.1997.

    IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria - Academic Requirements

    • A Bachelor's Degree in any subject from any University recognised by the Government of India or any Central Government.
    • While applying for IBPS Clerk 2024, candidates should have a valid mark sheet/degree certificate of their graduation.
    • All academic qualifications should be from a University/ Institution/ Board recognised by the Government of India/ approved by Government Regulatory Bodies and the result should have been declared on or before September 2024.

    Computer Literacy:

    • Candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/College/Institute.

    • Proficiency in the Official Language of the State/UT where the candidate has applied.
    • Candidates should know how to read/ write and speak the Official Language of the State/UT.

    Reservation Policy for IBPS Clerk Exam 2024

    The reservation policy applies only to the applicants who fall under the category of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities as prescribed by the exam conducting authority. It is to note that the reservation policy for certain categories has been imposed under the section 34 of “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016” which explains the right for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities to get a reservation for any such examination. The details of the reservation policy define the leverage given to applicants who inherit certain disabilities as mentioned below:

    • Autism, Mental Illness, Specific Learning Disability, and Intellectual Disability.

    • Low Vision and Blindness

    • Locomotor Disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims and Muscular Dystrophy

    • Deaf and Hard of Hearing

    • Multiple Disabilities including the ones falling under the category of Low Vision and Blindness and Autism, Mental Illness, Specific Learning Disability and Intellectual Disability, including deaf-blindness in the posts identified for each disability.

    Note: Applicants must remember that the reserved vacancies will be subject to the vacancies and availability reported by the Participating Organisations of IBPS Clerk 2024.

    Reservation Policy for IBPS Clerk Exam 2024-Economically Backward Section

    • Persons who have not been covered by the existing scheme of reservations to the Scheduled Castes, the Schedule Tribes and the Other Backward Classes and whose family has gross annual income below INR 8.00 lakh comes under the category of Economically Backward Section. 
    • Th income for EWS is calculated from all sources i.e. salary, agriculture, business, profession etc. and it will be income for the financial year prior to the year of application.
    • Person who family possess any of the following properties will also be exempted from the EWS category for IBPS exam:
    1. 5 acres of Agricultural Land and above;
    2. Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above;
    3. Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities;
    4. Residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified municipalities.

    Note: : EWS Vacancies are tentative and subject to further directives of Government of India and outcome of any litigation. These guidelines are subject to change in terms of GOI guidelines/ clarifications, if any, from time to time.

    Apart from the eligibility criteria mentioned above, candidates who wish to appear for the IBPS Clerk 2024 Mains Examination need to clear the Preliminary Exam of the same. The qualifying marks of the IBPS Clerk 2024 Preliminary Exam is an essential factor that will help candidates to get the ticket for the Mains Exam. Hence, it is important for the candidates to clear the IBPS Clerk 2024 Prelims and mark their place in the cut-off list prepared for the Mains applicants. It is also important for aspirants to know that clearing the Mains exam will make them eligible for the round of Selection Process for IBPS Clerk.

    Yes, it is mandatory for the candidate to know how to use the computer. Although it is not compulsory to have Diploma in Computer Technology. This will be applicable for those Universities also where Class / Grade is decided on basis of Honours marks only.

    Yes, the visually impaired candidates and candidates whose writing speed is adversely affected permanently for any reason can use their own scribe at their cost during the online examination (Preliminary and Main). Candidates have to arrange their own scribe for the exam.
