Detailed Eligibility Criteria for NEET MDS 2025

Candidates looking to know about the academic qualifications and internship experience requirements for NEET MDS 2025 can check the following points. The following requirements have been prescribed by the Dental Council of India under MDS Course Regulations 2017.

  • Candidates wishing to apply for the Master in Dental Surgery course must hold a Bachelor in Dental Surgery course from a recognized university.

  • The candidates must also have undergone a rotatory internship of one year in any recognized dental college. 

  • The candidates must have obtained permanent or provisional registration. If candidates are undergoing a one-year rotatory internship or practical training, they must make sure that their internship ends by 31 July 2025. If candidates fail to do so, they will not be considered eligible for NEET MDS 2025. The NBEMS decided to extend this period of internship to 31 July 2025 instead of 31 March 2025. 

How Many Attempts for NEET MDS?

There is no definite limit that is set by the NEET MDS 2025 Exam. Candidates can appear for the exam as many times as they want. But, to apply for the NEET MDS Exam 2025, candidates must meet all the NEET MDS Eligibility Criteria. Candidates need to pass an undergraduate degree in BDS in order to apply for the NEET MDS 2025 Exam. 

NEET MDS Eligibility Criteria 2025 for All India 50% Quota Seats

  • Candidates who hold a BDS degree from Jammu and Kashmir will not be considered eligible for the 50 per cent All India Quota seats. 

  • Candidates who got nominated by the GOI (under central pool seats) to pursue a BDS course from any Dental College in J&K can apply for admission through the quota, provided, they submit a signed affidavit stating the same. 

  • Candidates who fail to submit the mentioned document will not be eligible to get admission through the quota. 

  • The restrictions from the states of J&K will not be applicable to the candidates belonging to Armed Forces categories for MDS admissions in Armed Forces Institutes. 

NOTE: 

  • If a candidate is found ineligible for NEET MDS 2025 at any stage of the examination, she/he will not be allowed to appear for the exam or counselling. 

  • In an unlikely event, is an ineligible candidate appears in the exam or becomes successful, the conducting authority will have full power to cancel the candidature or result of such candidate. 

NEET MDS 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Nationals

At the time of NEET MDS 2025 examination, it is not required for foreign nationals to have temporary registration with DCI. However, candidates are required to follow the procedure mentioned below. 

  • On payment of the application fee, DCI may grant temporary registration to the candidate for the duration of the course and training, which will be restricted to the dental institution she/he is admitted. 

  • The candidate must be a registered practitioner in her/his own country.

  • The candidate must have obtained a basic dental qualification in that country, which is recognised by the concerned authority or corresponding state dental council. 

  • The starting and completion date for the Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship given by candidates will be treated as final. 

  • Candidates will be required to submit their original Internship completion certificate at the time of counselling.

To be considered eligible for the NEET MDS process, candidates from the state of Jammu and Kashmir must adhere to the following criteria:

Candidates with undergraduate degrees from Jammu and Kashmir are not eligible under the All India Quota (AIQ) category
