APJ Kalam Technical University (AKTU) Academic Council on Saturday decided to introduce 'Visvesvaraya PhD scheme' to promote research. Under the scheme, every year, the university will ask for 50 research proposals from colleges.
Out of these proposals a team of experts will select the best research proposal for which a fund of rupees 5 lakh will be given. Also uniiversity is planing for promotion of quality research, the university will set up Nalanda e-library which will have a collection of national and international journals.
Teachers and students of the university will have access to these online journals for free. The council also took the decision to start CV Raman Teaching Assistance Programme and Homi Bhabha Teaching Assistance Programme under which 50 Mtech and 50 PhD students will be selected for teaching assistance, for which they will paid stipend.
In addition, for making syllabus of its online courses, the university will be collaborating with IIT Kanpur.
