Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has received approval from AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) for introducing B.Des (Bachelor of Design) and M.Des (Master of Design) courses from this academic session, i.e., 2018-19. Vice Chancellor of AKTU, Mr. Vinay Pathak revealed that AKTU is the first university in the country to get approval for introducing B.Des and M.Des course.
Classes for B.Des and M.Des courses offered by AKTU will be conducted at the UP Institute of Design, Noida. The B.Des intake will be 40, while M.Des intake will be 18.

Apart from B.Des and M.Des courses, AKTU has also received approval from AICTE to offer specialised courses. The three specialised courses that have been given approval by AICTE are: -
- M.Tech in Mechatronics
- M.Tech in Nanotechnology
- M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering
All these three courses will be offered at Lucknow’s Centre for Advanced Studies and the intake of these courses will be 18 each. GATE score will be considered for the admission to these courses. On the other hand, the state government will also provide a monthly scholarship of Rs. 12,500 to students pursuing PG courses . It is a great opportunity for students belonging to economically backward classes.

The new courses will be beneficial to aspiring students as they need not travel long distances to other states for pursuing courses in Design. More details regarding the admission process for AKTU B.Des and M.Des courses will be released soon.
