Andhra Pradesh Government to Reimburse 100% B.Tech/ ITI/ Polytechnic/Junior College Tuition Fee under Amma Vodi Scheme

Andhra Pradesh government has reimbursed the B.Tech fees for all the students for the academic session 2019-20. The government has reimbursed over Rs. 1800 crore under this scheme. From the 2020-21 academic session, fee reimbursement will come under Amma Vodi scheme.

Andhra Pradesh government has decided to reimburse a 100 per cent tuition fee for UG engineering (B.Tech) students. The revised reimbursement rules have come into effect from the upcoming academic session (2019-20). Students belonging to EBC, BC, Kapu, Minority, and PH (Physically Handicapped) are eligible for the fee reimbursement in Andhra Pradesh.

Guidelines for Jagananna VidyaDeevena Scheme

Until 2018-19, the state government reimbursed Rs. 35,000 for B.Tech and B.Arch students. As per the revised rules, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to reimburse the full fee for the benefit of students. However, students must note that the reimbursement is applicable irrespective of the exact fee structure of the college.

For example, if a student of any of the above-mentioned categories pays Rs. 80,000 as tuition fee for B.Tech course, the state government will reimburse the full amount. The average B.Tech fee in Andhra Pradesh engineering colleges is around Rs. 40,000 – Rs. 65,000. Therefore, the reimbursement hike will benefit the students, particularly from economically weaker sections.

The state government formed a nine-member committee to fix the reimbursement amount for B.Tech and B.Arch courses. The committee proposed Rs. 65,000 as the reimbursement amount for these courses. However, after several deliberations, AP HRD Minister, Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao approved Rs. 45,000 as the reimbursement for engineering and architecture courses.

Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme

The Andhra Pradesh government has rolled out Jagananna Vidya Deevana Scheme through which tuition fee incurred by students for various courses. The students whose family income is less than Rs. 2,50,000 per annum shall be eligible for Jagannana Vidya Deevena Scheme. The reimbursement for pursuing ITI courses will be Rs. 10,000 while the same is Rs. 15000 for Polytechnic students.
